Artists in the country have been urged to protect their work

The first Ntchito Za Manja Anga session, organized by NewWave Music Company, emphasized the importance for artists in Malawi to protect their creative works in order to maximize their benefits. Nthangwanika Kondowe, the Chief Operations Officer at NewWave Music Company, highlighted that many artists struggle to earn sufficient income from their work due to their failure to register with the copyright society of Malawi and their use of ineffective marketing and distribution methods.  Kondowe pointed out that misconceptions about the operations of the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) contribute to artists' reluctance to protect their work.
